Owner-specific modifications:
Changed fireplace from wood-burning to gas
Enlarged garage considerably; added game room above
Spending time together as a family was an important consideration for Randy and Sue Lamons as they contemplated their first home-building project. Having outgrown their previous home, this Arkansas couple, who work as a social worker and a police officer, discovered Plan L-830-VACA during an online search.
The Lamonses also recognized that with a maturing family, some secluded spaces were just as desirable as open ones. Separating the master suite from the other sleeping areas ensures greater privacy, while an enclosed sun room provides a quiet spot for studying or tackling household projects. "We love our home—it is perfect for our lifestyle," Sue says of the soothing environment this home fosters for their family.
After six months of construction and costs totaling $135,000, the Lamonses completed their building project and began settling into their new home. They love the game room they added over the garage, the latter of which was enlarged considerably to accommodate their needs. They are ecstatic about the huge master bath, and they are thrilled by their home's curb appeal, which they say frequently elicits admiration. "We would use stock plans again," Sue beams, adding, "We would certainly recommend them to others."
