The home of Vic and Terry Stelly is the first house you see as
you drive into their subdivision. The Stellys chose their lot
because of that fact, but they're finding the wonderful curb
appeal of Plan E-2704 is something of a blessing and a curse!
"A lot of people knock at my door and ask about the
house," says Terry. "A lot of people are asking
[the selling price]!"
Small wonder, really. The Stelly home is one of the finest in
our inventory, the brainchild of Edsel Breland, one of the
South's most renowned home designers. To hear Terry sing of
Plan E-2704, you'd think there was some kind of cosmic connection
between her and Breland! True, the Stellys made several
modifications to the interior, but Terry is quick to point
out that the home is "just perfect for my husband
and me."
The Stellys needed that perfection. With their children
grown and flown from the nest, Vic and Terry wanted to move
out of their two-story home, which was much larger. They
wanted "a smaller house, something more open, with
wider halls," says Terry. "And we just didn't
want the upkeep of a larger house."
Their nine-month building project fulfilled that dream.
Terry believes in good first impressions. That's
why the front entry door is an astonishingly beautiful,
custom-made creation. Inside, a master carpenter installed
custom cabinets, triple crown molding, ash paneling, and
wainscoting to add warm ambience. In the master bedroom,
concealed rope lighting further intensifies the home's appeal.
The central family room—which functions as a Great Room—is a
huge favorite for the couple. Its proximity to the kitchen
makes it the perfect spot for entertaining. "We
absolutely love this, because everything is so open, I
can be in the kitchen and talk to people in the family
room, watch TV—I know everything that is going on!"
says Terry.
The game room is the real "magnet," however.
"This is where we really live," admits Terry.
"We have a beautiful bar in here, and couches,
and chairs . . ."
Terry also is quick to point out the second full bathroom
and its proximity to the secondary bedrooms, praising the
designer Breland for providing a sort of suite arrangement
by locating one of the sinks in the bedroom proper, and
giving that bedroom private access to the bathroom.
The outdoor gathering places are equally intoxicating. Terry
points to the private courtyard (accessed from the master
bedroom) as a favorite spot. "We love it out here; the
brick wall is topped with a wrought-iron fence. We have
really enjoyed this."
The backyard unfolds from the rear porch, terraced downward,
giving way to a sprawling patio and a pond with a waterfall.
It's the perfect complement to the home, and provides several
gorgeous views to the back side of the house, which Terry
insists is every bit as beautiful as the front!
And who are we to argue? Congratulations to the Stellys.
