Bonus/Future A bonus room is the term we use for a room on the second floor, sometimes above the garage, sometimes above the main area of the home. The blueprints show at least one exterior window, wires for electrical outlets and solid walls. We include the bonus room in the total square footage of the home for pricing purposes. A future area is exactly like a bonus room, except it doesn’t have all three of the following criteria on the blueprints: at least one exterior window, wires for electrical outlets, and solid walls. We do not include a future area in the home’s total square footage for pricing purposes.
